Steve leads efforts at the USFWS National Conservation Training Center to build our next generation of conservation professionals. He also oversees the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service history/heritage program and has organized a number of historical symposia on important figures and places in American Conservation History. He was a co-organizer of the seminal National Dialogue on Children and Nature event in 2006, and today works with a very talented group of people who focus on ensuring that nature stays relevant in our future society, especially with young people. Before joining USFWS in 1990, Steve worked as an educator, backcountry guide and caretaker, and outdoor industry buyer and technical representative. He is the former Board Chair at The Murie Center in Moose, Wyoming and the founding President of the American Conservation Film Festival.
