Sally Anderson
New Mexico School for the Deaf (NMSD) School Administrator & Forest Day Learning Founder & Lead
I have worked with Deaf & Hard of Hearing children & their families for over 30 years, primarily as an Early Childhood specialist & educator. I am a fluent user of American Sign Language (ASL) & have worked with Deaf children in a variety of roles in Kenya, Italy, New Zealand & the US. In my 20s I worked as an Outdoor Educator for the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) & at a variety of youth & Deaf camps. I have recently become a local Tinkergarten Leader & this spring I will receive my Forest Schools Canada Practitioner certificate. We are expanding our "Forest Day Learning" program to all four of our NMSD ECE programs in coming years which is incredibly exciting, but I am also staying open to opportunities that would allow me to do Forest / Nature School work full-time (in NM or elsewhere) as an educator, leader / administrator, &/ or family / inclusion specialist. I hold an Educational Administrator license in addition to an MA education degree & believe that my unique background & experiences would make me an exemplary candidate for programs connecting diverse learners (& their families) preschool- aged through high school-aged in a Forest Kindergarten &/or "Environmental School" model.
