Megan Zeni is a first year PhD student in the faculty of education, curriculum and pedagogy at UBC (EDCP). With over 20 years of K-7 classroom teaching experience, Megan currently teaches in a public school outdoor classroom and garden. She is an advocate for the social, emotional, and cognitive benefits of outdoor and garden classrooms. Megan consults extensively on garden classroom start up and maintenance, and shares practical tips for joyful learning with all sorts of loose parts in the school garden and beyond. Her research interests include teacher perceptions of risk, playful inquiry outdoors, and capacity building opportunities for normalizing outdoor cross-curricular learning in schools beyond the preschool years.
