Building on the Summit is our Conference, April 20-21, featuring keynotes speakers, hands-on workshops and networking opportunities.

Lauren Garrott is a Consultant at Shockey Consulting Services. Prior to Shockey Consulting she worked in park planning, urban planning, and served as a DOI/VISTA at Heartland Conservation Alliance. While serving as a DOI/VISTA, she was selected to be a part of the Natural Leaders Network 2015 Legacy Camp.

She graduated from Kansas State University with a master’s degree in Regional and Community Planning. Her master’s research focused on creating opportunities for African American women to be physically active in parks. She received the Marsha Ritzdorf Award for Best Student Work on Diversity, Social Justice and the Role of Women in Planning in 2014 and presented her research at the ACSP Annual Conference. As a chair of Environmental Professionals of Color KC and Board Secretary of Heartland Conservation Alliance, she is passionate about getting people outdoors and active.
