Emily Peters
The National Aquarium Education Specialist
Hello! I’ve been an environmental educator for the past 4 years. I began my career by joining Delaware State Parks as a summer camp director immediately following my college graduation from Delaware Valley University in 2013. While in Delaware, I quickly realized I wanted to continue sharing the excitement of nature and conservation with young minds.
My newfound interest transformed into passion on the eastern shore of Maryland as an Educator for Pickering Creek Audubon Center. From there I took my passions to West Virginia, serving as an AmeriCorps member for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service WV Field Office for two years. While there, I harnessed my passions to make a difference in the community by developing strong education and outreach programs. I also worked with variety of inter-agency partners, including the National Conservation Training Center Division of Education & Outreach, NY Field Office and USFWS Headquarters.
My current adventure has returned me to the Chesapeake Bay, as an Education Specialist at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland. I currently teach and lead the development of a variety of conservation education programs for school groups, teachers, and homeschoolers onsite at the Aquarium and in classrooms for city schools in the Baltimore/ DC metro area.
Through all my adventures, I have gained a wide variety of experiences in environmental education. I love discussing youth engagement in conservation- please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
