Alyssa San Jose

Pennsylvania State University
Doctoral Student
State College, PA
Alyssa holds a B.S. in Psychology with honors and distinction from the Schreyer Honors College at The Pennsylvania State University. In 2015, Alyssa was a counselor at Penn State Outdoor School, an environmental education program run by the Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. After being a counselor for one season, Alyssa became fascinated with the effects that Outdoor School might have on the fifth-grade student participants. In response, she designed a study as her honors thesis to investigate children's connection to, knowledge of, and orientation toward nature before and after their attendance at Outdoor School. Alyssa is currently a School Psychology doctoral student at The Pennsylvania State University. She hopes to use her research interests about nature to inform future practices in conjunction with rising technology in the modern world.
